First and foremost, UConn College Republicans is the BEST Party on Campus!
The purpose of the UConn College Republicans is to expose students to the Republican Party, and conservative philosophy. We participate/interact with and support the nominees of the Republican Party, on the local and national level. In addition, the College Republicans will seek to be sure that the conservative viewpoint is heard and considered on campus.

Meet Our Board Members

President: Tim Plungis

Timothy Plungis is a senior at the University of Connecticut where he is studying American studies and political science. Tim has been involved with the UConn College Republicans since the spring of 2008. He previously served as Vice President for the 2008-2009 academic year and was elected President for the 2009-2010 academic year. Tim also serves as Executive Director to the Connecticut Union of College Republicans. Tim has interned with Romney for President Inc. where he traveled to Iowa during the caucuses as well as Sean Sullivan for Congress in Connecticut.
Tim also serves as a Republican State Central Committee member for the 18th senatorial district in Connecticut. His commentary has been featured in The New York Times, The Norwich Bulletin, The New London Day, and has had guest appearances on FOX61 and NBC30. Along with newspaper and television, Tim has been a guest on the Dan Lavollo show as well as his local favorite, Lee Elci on 104.7 WXLM.
Outside of politics Tim enjoys running, cycling, and spending time with his family. He is a youth leader at his local church and actively supports his local community.

Vice President: Aaron Nelson
Vice Chairman of the UConn College Republicans, Aaron Nelson is a sophomore and one year member of the group. An honor student and mathematics major, he is involved in the Air Force ROTC program on campus and is looking forward to a career in the United States Air Force. He is also a member of Arnold Air Society, a community service organization within the Air Force. His passions are ice hockey, golf, music, and writing, all of which he has been involved in for many years. He resides in Willington, CT with his family. The College Republicans is his first involvement in the realm of politics.

Secretary: Chris Ziegler
Chris Ziegler, Secretary of the UConn College Republicans, is a Danbury native and currently, a seventh semester Animal Sciences major at The University of Connecticut.

Treasurer: Dave Getchell

David Getchell, Treasurer of the UConn College Republicans, is a Junior Accounting major, Religion minor. Growing up, he has always considered himself a Green Christian Hippie, but since he began studying economics at the UCONN School of Business and the last election cycle he now considers himself a Green Christian Conservative who is on the fine line that exists between hippies and rednecks. His future goals include: franchise owner, becoming a theologian, and writing a book about it.
